Life is a Story

Not long ago, I found myself standing by the ocean.
I was about to begin a new course. Before the day began, I wandered down to the water. It was just after 5:00 in the morning. The train was making its way along the shoreline.
As I stood there with the water lapping at my feet, I thought to myself,
"I am surrounded by the sunrise and the beauty of God."
Then it came to me...
"So many of my dreams have already come true."

Life is a story.
Sometimes our story includes challenges, loss, grief, or experiences that leave us wondering how we found ourselves here. Yet I believe those experiences can also become part of our healing. They can bring us closer to who we truly are and to the life we are meant to live.
For many years, I thought recovery was about not drinking. Over time, I discovered it was about so much more.
Recovery became about learning to tell myself the truth. It became about letting go of shame. It became about learning to feel safe, understanding my relationships, and becoming the person God created me to be. Recovery isn't just about what we leave behind. It's also about what we find along the way.
Standing there that morning, I wasn't thinking about everything that was still ahead of me.
I was thinking about...
How many prayers had already been answered.
How many dreams had already come true.
That moment reminded me to pause.
To be grateful.
To notice.
No matter what chapter you're living today, I hope you'll remember this.
Your story isn't over.
An Invitation
As you go about your day, I invite you to take a few moments for yourself.
Reflect on your story. Notice how far you've come.
Celebrate the dreams that have already found their way into your life.
And if you're in the middle of a difficult chapter, remember that stories are still being written. Perhaps this chapter isn't the end.
Perhaps it's the beginning of something you can't yet see.
